What is lock rekeying?
Inside most locks is a set of small pins that line up when the correct key is inserted. When we rekey a lock, we change those pins so the lock works with a new key and every old key stops working. The lock body stays on your door, which is why rekeying usually costs less than a full lock replacement.
When to rekey your locks
- You have just bought or moved into a home
- A housemate, tenant or partner has moved out
- You have lost a set of keys
- A tradesperson or cleaner no longer needs access
- Staff have left your business
Rekey or replace?
If your locks are in good working order, rekeying is usually the best option. If they are old, damaged or not very secure, it may be better to replace them or upgrade. We give you an honest recommendation on site.
